Windows 7 Product Guide

I’m pretty late on this as the guide has been posted by Microsoft for a while now but I only just recently stumbled upon this. In fact, looking at the published date, this guide came out on the day Windows 7 was released to the general public (10.22.09)! Anyways, if you are looking for a Windows 7 brochure of some sort, look no further. Although it’s a bit long at a 140 pages, it packs a lot of information for both consumers and professional users.

Overview:
The Windows 7 Product Guide provides a detailed look at the many new and improved features in Windows 7. The guide is designed as an accurate source of information that can help you to understand how Windows 7 Simplifies Everyday Tasks, Works the Way You Want, and Makes New Things Possible. The guide is also designed to provide IT Professionals with information about how to Make People Productive Anywhere, Manage Risk Through Enhanced Security and Control, and Reduce Costs by Streamlining PC Management. This is not a help and how to guide. Rather, it provides an overview of the many exciting features in Windows 7 and pointers to more information.
If you or someone you know is stuck on the fence on whether to upgrade to Windows 7 from Windows XP/Vista or not, please point them to this guide!

Just as a reminder, Microsoft will be discontinuing support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP2 on July 13, 2010. For XP users, in order to continue getting security updates, you’ll need to upgrade to Service Pack 3, which has been around for a long, long time.

As stated above, this is not a how-to type of guide but rather focuses on the main features of Windows 7 and how it can work for them. The PDF version is very well-put together and includes many pictures (hence the file size of 62MB) so that users reading the guide can easily follow along. I wrote a mini Windows 7 features article in the past but it is no where as in depth as this product guide. In fact, I don’t think you’ll find another Windows 7 guide as well put together as this one. I mean technically, it is written by Microsoft employees so I’m sure they can do a much better job than most people. Anyways, if you want *the* product guide to Windows 7, look no further.
