repairing your xbox 360's rrod

My Xbox 360 Elite console recently broke down after my Playstation 3 console got knocked out as well. This is my second Xbox. I bought this Elite version on launch day at BestBuy and after a short while, gave me the dreaded Red Rings of Death (RROD). Luckily, I had store warranty so all I had to do was take it back and they gladly gave me a spanking new console. Fast forward to the present and the console once again broke down. I don't have the RROD but I can't get any video or audio signal to my HDTV via an HDMI or component connection.

repairing your ps3's ylod

A while back, my PS3 suffered the dreaded Yellow Light of Death (YLOD) and my machine basically turned into a very expensive paper weight. My warranty period was clearly over and so in order to fix the problem, I had to send it in to Sony and pay a fee of $150. Here's the problem though. They're not going to just fix my PS3 and give it back to me. They're going to just hand me a refurbished unit (which most likely was turned in by another user with similar problems in the first place), slap on a short warranty period (I believe it's for 90 days) for that second-hand console and call it a day.

Book Highlight: Guide to Wireless Network Security

Wireless networking seems so complex years ago but in this day and age, it's everywhere. You can find wireless networks being utilized in many users home, local airports, coffee shops, book stores, big and small companies, and even at some fast food restaurants. By providing free or cheap wifi for their customers, businesses can almost guarantee a spike in sales. This book deals specifically with the security nature of wireless networks. Just as you wouldn't want a hacker to be able to physically connect to your corporate network, the same could be said about wanting a hacker connecting to your corporate wireless network. If you think securing a wireless network entails just applying some type of encryption and calling it a day, you couldn't be any more wrong. There is so much to learn about this topic and this book will guide you along the way.

Just as with many other networking or computer related book, the author spends a good deal of time in the beginning explaining about wireless networks and the many different wireless technology in general. However, this isn't your average book about wireless networks. The author will get much more in depth about why protecting your wireless network is necessary. He talks about wireless encryption, authentication, attacks, prevention/solution methods, and much much more. Thinking about designing a wireless network for your work place? Well, this book can help you out as well by talking about how best to place a wireless access point along with how you can block that signal from leaking outside your company walls. In the second half of the book, the author spends time talking about information warfare. This is a very good read as I'm sure there will be stuff here that you never thought possible.

While this book clearly isn't meant for everyone, for those who care for wireless technology, this book is a must read. Our society benefits so much from wireless technology and so with that privilege comes the responsibility to secure that technology as much as possible.
